Parallel Edge Lumber

Parallel Edge White Oak for Better Yield

SLR2E after kiln drying. Net tallied after ripping. Built for customers who measure lumber by usable output.

Traditional random-width lumber can create challenges for manufacturers, especially in rip-first operations. Sidebend, inconsistent edges, unusable width, and hidden waste can reduce yield before a board ever becomes a finished part.

Our Parallel Edge White Oak program is designed to help solve that problem. We kiln dry the lumber first, then straight-line rip it to create cleaner, more parallel edges. The material is then tallied net after ripping, so customers are buying a more usable board.

Yield Advantage

15–20%

Higher yield in rip-first operations.

For many rip-first operations, Parallel Edge White Oak can deliver 15–20% higher yield compared to conventional rough random-width lumber. The advantage comes from reducing waste before the material reaches the customer's production line. Instead of paying for width that disappears during the first rip, customers receive material that has already been straight-line ripped and tallied net.

Width Advantage

A better starting point.

Parallel Edge lumber gives customers a better starting point. Because the board has been ripped to remove sidebend and create a cleaner edge, the usable width is easier to evaluate and recover. This can be especially valuable for customers ripping to fixed widths, staves, face frame parts, cabinet parts, mouldings, flooring blanks, and other production components.

"The value is not just in the board footage. The value is in the usable yield."
